Latinoware

From the 30 of October to the 1 of November, the LatinoWare 2008 event will be held at the Itaupú Technology Park, in Brazil where the V Latin American Free Software Conference will be held.

More than 2 million people are expected for the event, including students, professionals and specialists in the sector. and among the aspects that have caught our attention is that the GIS area is one of the topics considered promising for this year.

It is in this line that gvSIG will be presented through a presentation paper and with a workshop that aims to raise awareness and train personnel interested in territorial management with free tools. As far as is known, gvSIG is a constantly expanding tool in Brazil, being used by various administrations and universities.

At least Victoria Agazzi, current coordinator of the gvSIG Project and André Sperb, a member of OSGEO, is expected to participate.

Latinoware will serve as the first meeting point for organizations and people interested in carrying out the Brazilian chapter of OSGeo, holding a first meeting in the framework of the event that serves as an initial step in the formation of the Brazilian community.

Also in this event will be the national meeting of users of Mapserver.
