What's new in GEO5 version 15
A few years ago I did a review of this software, which seems to me the best For soil mechanics. This week we have been quite interested in the launch of the new version of GEO5, which we believe will be accepted by users of this tool, which by the way stands out in the field of geoengineering without great competition, at least in the Hispanic context thanks to the support that Fine Latinamerica promotes from Argentina.
The most important changes in version 15 are concentrated in the novelty of the "Piles Group", although some innovations and improvements to the entire line are also striking, especially in data entry that makes the analysis configuration somewhat more comfortable. .
Let's see what this implies:
Group of piles
The program performs a pile group analysis (rigid foundation plate) with the using the spring method (MEF) and analytical solutions. The program assumes a rectangular grid of vertical piles, with loads acting in the upper plane of the plate, considering the stratification in horizontal layers and including both floating and fixed piles.
At the level of analytical information generation can be obtained:
- Analysis of the vertical bearing capacity of the group of piles in cohesive soils as a rigid block.
- Analysis of piles in non cohesive soils (NAVFAC, effective tension, CSN).
- Reduction of the bearing capacity of a group of piles (EI 02C097, La Barre, Seiler-Keeney).
- Analysis of seats of a group of piles in cohesive soil as a fictitious foundation.
- Analysis of seats of a group of piles in a non-cohesive soil according to Poulos, load-settlement curve.
And via the Spring Method (MEF) you can obtain analysis of a three-dimensional action on a group of piles:
- Analysis of rotation and translation of a top pile.
- Allows an arbitrary number of load cases.
- Analysis of the connection between the rigid plate and the piles: fixed or articulated.
- Analysis of floating piles and fixed piles inside a rock mass.
- Automatic post-calculation of springs along the pile from soil properties.
- Possibility of entering normal springs (to the axis of the pile) and vertical, along the length of the pile.
- Analysis of the distribution of deformations and internal forces along the pile.
- Dimensioning of a pile reinforcement, according to EN 1992 (EC2), BS, PN, IS, AS, ACI, GB, CSN, SNIP.
New input system and management of analysis settings
We are happy to introduce you to a significant change, which makes your work with GEO5 programs much easier.
Here are the benefits:
- The analysis configuration is unified across all GEO5 programs.
- With one click you can switch completely between different configurations such as: Safety factor or LRFD or National Annexes Eurocodes (Slovakia, Poland, Germany, Austria ...).
- 35 pre-defined settings for multiple countries.
- Possibility of creating user-defined configurations for particular analysis.
- Possibility of transferring user-defined configurations among several users.
Other modifications and improvements
Stability of Slopes
- Automatic analysis of both combinations in the case of verification according to: EN 1997, DA1
- Improved optimization of the circular and polygonal sliding surface
All investment programs
- Limit States and the Safety Factor contain defined design situations.
Reinforced Floor Wall Program
- Possibility of assigning different soils to a reinforced region
Shower seats
- Possibility of entering concentrated loads off axis of analysis
Micropile
- Possibility of choosing standards for sizing micropiles
Pressure of earth, Walls
- Introduction of the partial factor in earth resistance according to DA2
