Last year I have been using a lot Manifold System for both desktop work and application development; reason that has kept me entertained in the blog on the subject. He told them that one of the disadvantages it has is that it does not use “official” representatives in the countries, so finding local support is ridiculous; let alone the training and manuals (although that's an opportunity for those who understand the responsible support business).
Well, helping this need, the company HNG Systems has taken on the task of translating the Manifold manual into Spanish. They told me that they made the request to Manifold and he authorized them without any buts, although they have not made a translation “a la cheetah-tarzan” but rather they have adapted examples and comments to make it friendly.
As of the date of this post, they had six chapters, and were available (free) for
Download in your forum; Only had to register (some time ago this forum is disabled).
This is the subject covered to date in this manual in its 1.0 version:
This chapter discusses general aspects of both geographic information systems and the program itself
2. Basic Concepts in Using Manifold
This chapter shows the different objects and functionalities used in Manifold ... very practical to understand what we called layer, layer, layou and those names in other similar programs.
3. Starting the Manifold System
This chapter contains the initial steps in project management, images, labeling, projections ... and other herbs 🙂
4. Manifold System Management
Here we talk about the interface, menus and tools of the program.
5. Almost everything about drawings (Drawings)
The drawings are the focus of Manifold, as in ArcGis are the layers; Well, this chapter talks about all that
6. Applying Drawings to Drawings
This section is still unfinished, but it deals with the handling of formats of visualization and theming of objects.
Hopefully and continue, so you have to watch.
- Also in this forum you will be able to answer complex Manifold questions (if you do them), so abuse them
- It is also recommended that the Process equivalencies between Manifold and ArcGIS.
After a while of the initiative, I have learned that it was abandoned. However for the purposes of a Manual for Manifold GIS I recommend the one that was published in this space, in addition to the Index of contents related to Manifold GIS of Geofumadas.
