Geographic Information System using Manifold GIS
This is one of those products that it is a pleasure to have promoted, and that in the spirit for which they were built are now made available to the community. It is a manual that explains how to implement a municipal Geographic Information System using Manifold GIS.
The edited versions of these products were built within the framework of a Program to strengthen municipalities, whose legacy in terms of systematization we hope to disseminate in the hope that it may be useful for other countries. As we make these efforts public, knowledge is democratized and improved after the collaboration of learning communities that now represent spaces for sharing on the Internet.
The structure of the document includes:
Chapter 1
Here we explain how the hierarchy of layers and components is built in Manifold GIS, as well as the particularities of a municipal utility project as an example. The subject of assigning projection to data is also introduced and the content is divided into sections:
- Structure of the GIS in Manifold
- The municipal GIS
- Projection of components
Chapter 2
This section shows the most important aspects of data construction and editing, from vector data import to data frame construction. It only leaves out now that I realize it, the creation of thematic configurations of type templates.
- Construction of data
- Building and editing objects in drawing
- Management of tables and tables
- Construction of maps
Chapter 3
Here is a basic way to show the Manifold operation logic in data analysis and creation of new results from queries:
- Data analysis
- Spatial analysis
- Thematic
- HSE Consultations
Chapter 4
In this last stage it is shown what can be done with Manifold when creating output layouts. Although this segment is short, leaving out the creation of OGC publishing services, it is assumed that so far it is the basic aspect of the basic GIS user and it is considered that from then on it is already part of an IDE topic. The parts of this last chapter are:
- Publication in Manifold
- Save visas to components
- Create layouts
- Publish layout
At the end, as an annex, an attribute book is added that summarizes the characteristics of the layers used in the example. While
It is returned to the community, to be used as an example of systematization products that are certainly necessary in our context, not only their construction but also their visibility and integration into comprehensive knowledge management processes. It has credits that are indicated in a respective way, so that whoever wants to use it can cite the source indicated there. The back cover also shows the context within which this manual is located, as it is part of a compendium of 18 documents that make up three series: Technical, Administrative and Technological, which standardize the style and size that make this document that could contain more pages are kept in a format of only 54.
As an example I show you a project in South America, with whom I shared the document a few days ago and which is taking advantage of the usefulness of this manual instrument to make adjustments to its own needs. Always using Manifold GIS.
Sudos editor again thanks for the manual and by example until soon.
