Why some Cartesian blogs are abandoned
The creation of the Cartesian community is recent, some who have tried to join it I presume they had their own blogs on Blogger or Wordpress.
From what I see some, they only created the blog with their "hello world", but they did not feel like entering it, I presume because of the greatest weaknesses that Cartesians have so far:
- There is only one template available (... now there are several)
- Adding artilfugios to the right panel is half taken from the hair (... that is still done on foot)
- The only plugins that exists integrated is that of Adsense Deluxe. (… There are now several, including Google maps, Analytics and Flickr)
- Wordpress is not an option for beginners, for them it is BloggerPoro now, we may continue to see new blogs, but little content; Given that, it would be good to moderate those who only created their first page but have been abandoned. In my case, it took me a long time to find the functionality of the Adsense Deluxe plugin, to be able to insert the AdSense code and integrate it into the entries; Either way, no one pays to write for the web unless you monetize using this type of contextual advertising.

Hello, sorry for being so late in the discussion. I am one of those who left my Blog unopened 🙁 for a while. When I entered my first post, I was surprised to see the amount of “Hello World” generated, which is why I think that in these times having a blog becomes, for some, a personalistic cult object. As if suddenly through the blog, you came out of anonymity and you jump into space... one more url at the end of your email or perhaps in your "card" of presentation.
I then wondered if so many people wanted to talk about geomatics or really about themselves. Because the action of writing a post leaves a very personal seal that identifies us.
The purpose of a blog in Cartesia is for me very clear and as you well say in the post father of this, requires good time and work. So little by little they will go away those who can not materialize their attempt.
I agree with you that:
WordPress is not that easy to handle.
I will create websites and their tools. But you need to read the WordPress lessons to modify the Kubrick design. But we can not do it if we could! What frustration! To cry to the river.
Now there are more plugins to use
And not to lengthen this comment I add that I miss the remark of pedrol. I think Cartesia has earned its place and not precisely because it is a place of copies.

Thanks for the promise Tfsevilla, the truth is that they chose well to use WordPress, as it is much more robust than blogger, but there is a lot of limitation in its customization if it is not stored on a client computer. One thing that everyone must be wanting to do is enter a Google Analytics code, to be able to see the blog's statistics ...

You're wrong, Pedro, Cartesia does not belong to any university. It is simply the altruistic project of a group of people who devote their time to collecting and publishing information related to the field of geomatics, and others that collaborate in sharing information in the forums.
I also want to tell you that the contents of the portal Cartesia are, mostly, contributions from individuals who publish articles in a disinterested way.
I don't know what you mean when you say that: "... it is a copy of other specialized and more professional...", when Cartesia is a pioneer in the network, Spanish-speaking, in terms of content and services in the field of geomatics.
People have fun opening it up but they have nothing to say; It gives me the impression that this forum of Cartesian must belong to some faculty and will be the students that maintain it; By the name they give themselves that easy to guess. Sometimes there are interesting contributions, but most of the page is copy of other specialized and more professional
