Manuals for use of GPS and total station Leica
Following a link to the gvSIG distribution lists, which today has made the Final version 1.10, I have found an interesting site. Is about Openarcheology.net, that promoted by Oxford Archeology seeks to promote the use of tools and free systems for surveying applications in archaeological projects.
The most valuable site is the manuals for the use of survey equipment, including data download and layer integration in gvSIG.
The manuals look very practical, since they are not in themselves mere documents for the use of tools, but rather are oriented towards the methodology to survey and integrate a Geographic Information System. They include solving problems found and formats for data collection.
On the site there are at least 7 documents, apparently have several collaborators but their methodological adaptation is of Anna Kathrin Hodgkinson. This is the list of manuals, three of these contain a second edition in which gvSIG 1.9 is used and some improvements to the documents.
- Using the Leica Total Station (Collaborative) Series 1200.
- Using the Total Station Leica 1200 Series.
- Using GPS Leica GX1230 (backpack)
- Using GPS Leica RX1250XC
It is a valuable material, for some it will have the disadvantage that they are in English; But it will be useful because the step-by-step order is well built.
Leica is used to download data GeoOffice. For GIS integration gvSIG is used and some basic aspects are explained such as image georeferencing, layer editing, joining tables and printing in layout, etc.
For sample I leave the index of the first manual (Robotic Total Station Series 1200):
