Bentley to Present Microstation Athens V8i
It is expected, I hope, that many people expect, that the 8i version known as Bentley Athens will be formally presented, where Bentley is supposed to have been reversing its expectations since its failed attempt with the Mozart version announced since the launch of V8 in 2004.
This will happen in two events on the same day: a day in Philadelphia for an entire afternoon and a Press conference via Live Meeting with a brodcast of global reach of up to 90 minutes.

In my opinion, V8's step towards Athens will at least point to these aspects:
3D ... It means that although it has a high rendering quality and speed ... it will integrate DirectX 9c and Open GL, it is also very likely to integrate more with Sketchup !, Google Earth and services with OGC standards ... hooray! Connect with WFS served from Manifold or ArcServer
XML ... implementing the XFM (Extensible Format Modeling) smokes that have been seen so far in Bentley Map, would imply better connectivity to databases and integration with Project Wise in a less cave-dwelling way. In the geospatial field, improvements in the output results of Geo Web Publisher that although now it reads shape files, dwg ... its iDPR is still a bit annoying
