ArCADia BIM - Alternative to Revit

[nextpage title=”ArCADia 10″ ]

Do I require BIM technology nowadays?

The term Building Information Modeling (BIM), as defined in Wikipedia, is the modeling of information about construction and buildings. Although this term has become quite common recently, many people still do not understand this concept very well because its interpretations and explanations are very varied. Some believe that it is a software concept that helps design. Others think that it is a construction model created in the virtual world. A commonly used definition is that of a database in which the build data is stored. For us, the closest concept to the truth is the definition of this term as a process in which the most important role is played by cooperation and communication between its participants. This process involves the design and construction of a building or structure, and then its management and maintenance until demolition. It is based on the joint creation of a complete, virtual, "living" model of the building in which all the participants involved concur in such a way that they add consecutive elements to the information library. Its partners are mainly: the investor, architects, builders and installers, the contractor and the building manager. However, it is important to emphasize that the real essence of BIM is to model the entire building rather than using it in a single industry, even if it were the architectural industry-leader in the design process.

When we talk to our clients, we come across very different opinions about the designer's work. Very often we hear, “why invest my precious time in some technical novelty, since up to now I was getting pretty good at designing a project in the form of a CAD drawing, and not a building model in BIM technology? ?” exactly-until now. Probably decades ago, architects said the same thing, leaning over the drawing board and looking doubtfully at their colleagues sitting in front of computer screens with a not very intuitive and complicated CAD program installed, in which creating a few lines required much more knowledge and time. Twenty years ago, the computer conquered the drawing board due to the fact that this time it paid dividends for the designer when he came to edit the drawing or duplicate it in subsequent copies. Today everyone considers the computer as something obvious in the work of an Architect or Engineer. If we don't move on and continue to regress, sooner or later we will discover that the new technology train is going too fast to catch up. Today no one is thinking of making a CAD drawing on a drawing board. Designers have at their fingertips modern software that has a simple and intuitive interface that is already familiar to the user of common computer applications and according to their habits not exclusively related to CAD software.

A good example of this is our ArCADia BIM System companies, composed of programs dedicated to various design industries. With them it is possible to reconcile so much the ease of use with a high functionality of the system, and, without a doubt, the users are not forced to spend much time in learning a new software that uses the BIM technology. In our thinking about the possibilities and advantages of BIM technology, we place great emphasis on cooperation between designers from different industries. We believe that proper communication between them and mutual understanding of their needs is the key to the future success of the new design approach. The current design practice causes many defects in the design as such and the appearance of unforeseen aspects that appear only at the construction site, and as a consequence the investment costs increase in its final stage.

Among the designers there is the conviction that the implementation of a BIM design is expensive, and that the use of BIM by installers and builders unnecessarily and negatively affects the price of the project, reason why it may happen that the investor chooses a cheaper traditional solution. . Nothing could be further from the truth. With respect to global investment, the financial benefits will be spectacular and the designer's job is (or should be) to convince the investor to be indecisive and uninformed. Thanks to BIM-based solutions, you will receive a project that is a complete and clear 3D model. This will contain complete and always updated information on each of the building's components: volumetry, equipment, facilities, material consumption and construction costs, depending on the changes made during the design and implementation of the project. Thanks to this model, we can easily track the impact of changes in final costs.

The 3D construction model gives the designer the ability to accurately check all the details, and the fact that the program allows to capture errors and collisions, any potential construction problems will be eliminated at the design stage, that is, before that appear, saving time and money. The additional measurable financial benefits await in the operational phase of the building. The key to success is not so much the software itself but the information that you put into it during the design, construction and after the completion, which will allow you to effectively manage the building and minimize the maintenance cost of it. throughout its life cycle.

The ArCADia BIM system takes into account all aspects of a construction project and includes tools for each design industry ranging from architecture, plumbing, gas, telecommunications and electrical installers to energy auditors. The ArCADia BIM software is available to everyone. It is important that the modularity of the program and the way it is licensed as well as the technology used in no way restrict the designers from making available and transmitting their designs and drawings to other participants in the process. Regardless of the functionality of ArCADia BIM, all designers have access to the complete data of the building model, and can also transfer or export the design to those third party applications that are also used.

Demo download:

What is ArCADia-TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS?
ArCADia-TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS is an industry-specific module of the ArCADia BIM system, based on the ideology that shapes building information (BIM).
ArCADia-TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS is a program for the creation of professional industrial documentation for designs of external telecommunications networks (fiber optics and copper media). The program is intended for external telecommunication network designers and design and construction firms that produce network concepts, industrial drawings, inventory existing networks, as well as all those associated with the telecommunications industry.
This is another industrial module of the ArCADia BIM system, and as with all previous modules it can be operated as an overlay for AutoCAD software. Any user of ArCADia-TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS can quickly create drawings of external telecommunication networks in spatial development plans or produce their own drawing showing an existing or design network in terms of its passive components.
Due to the specific nature of external telecommunication network design (the need to build or extend primary and secondary telecommunication cable duct systems, cable pipes, existing or planned overhead lines, reconstruction of existing cables), the program covers the design of fiber optic cables and copper media in connection with the aforementioned network elements. The program is intended for designers of external telecommunication networks. However, it can also be used by design and construction companies that provide telecommunication network concepts, the production of industrial drawings, an inventory of existing networks, and by all those associated with the telecommunications industry. The program provides a complete list of the basic materials used to build telecommunication networks, including cables and terminations for fiber optic and copper-medium cables in terminal facilities.
The object library can be used to design a telecommunications network. Objects can be edited and assigned parameters. In addition to the possibility of producing drawings and diagrams efficiently, the program performs the necessary calculations for the correct design of a network. The combination of specialized functions used in this application and the ability to perform calculations and verification of designed networks provides a perfect tool for creating telecommunication network designs using fiber optic and copper-medium cables.
The ArCADia-TELECOMMUNICATIONS NETWORKS program enables the design of external telecommunication networks on the route: one main distribution frame (cable outlet termination: distribution frame, external cabinet, cable box) - one route of telecommunication line - frame of the optical distribution (termination of the cable end: distribution frame, external cabinet, cable box, termination of the cable in a building), as well as any configuration of the network, including its division into component elements.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PROGRAM:
• Design of primary and secondary underground cable systems as well as cable pipes.
• Airline design.
• Design of fiber optic and copper-medium cables (including telecommunications and coaxial cables) using a proposed or defined existing telecommunication infrastructure.
• Verification of the individual designed sections of a cable, a selected cable line and the connections of the remaining components of the design.
• Generation of calculation reports, such as attenuation analysis, cable section lists, description of the cable route, list of sections of the primary and secondary cable duct system.
• Generation of cable routing diagrams, a main diagram of the cable duct system, cable piping, listing of project materials or selected line materials.
• A report for the selected object or a group of objects.
• Export of the bill of materials to cost estimation programs.
The program provides a complete opportunity to start and finish work at any location on a network. Also, the program can only be used to design a primary cable duct system, a cable drain hole, or a section of cable pipe. Due to the required order of construction of a new network or the extension of an existing network (first, the cable duct of a duct system or a cable pipe must be built, and then, the cables can be laid on them or can erect an air network), the only restriction in the design of telecommunication cables is to first define the components mentioned above in the network. When external cable lines are designed in spatial development plans, a designer can quickly obtain a survey report coordinate list (in the form of an RTF report) at critical network points (line pivot points, drain holes) cable, overhead line poles, cable bins). The program also offers the possibility to perform basic calculations, generate reports and verify the designed network elements.

ArCADia-SEWAGE INSTALLATIONS 2

Price:
Net: € 593,00

Demo download:

What is ArCADia-SEWAGE INSTALLATIONS?
ArCADia-SEWAGE INSTALLATIONS is an industry-specific module of the ArCADia BIM system, based on the Building Information Modeling (BIM) ideology. The program can be used to create professional documentation of drainage system design on architectural background drawings. The program is intended for designers of internal drainage systems.
ArCADia-SEWAGE INSTALLATIONS allow object-oriented insertion of drawing elements into architectural background drawings, including creating design diagrams and generating extensions and profiles. The user can design a drainage system in terms of drained wastewater: gray and black water, rainwater (for the locations of the outlet pipes in a building or when it is necessary to run outlet pipes under a floor of the building ) and the wastewater process. Plan drawings can be produced into architectural background drawings in the form of vector or bitmap files.
The user can use a library of the elements used in the drainage systems, which can be expanded and adapted to the user's own needs in terms of the devices used and the types of pipe material. A template can also be prepared, including the ability to save the default settings for each program item and transfer it along with a layout between multiple workstations.
Initially, the user locates risers for a group of recipients, including the ability to locate displacements (under floor penetrations) ventilation and vertical connection methods. To do this, enter the thickness of the floor and the height of the level (ArCADia-ARCHITECTURE construction geometry data will be generated automatically).
Device connections to risers can be designed and hydraulic loads can be defined on that basis, which in turn allows the diameter of the riser to be determined. The program allows the definition of objects in the horizontal and vertical sections: Cleanouts, cleaning openings, access chambers, ironworks (storm flaps) and drop curtains.
A partial / complete system extension is generated based on data from a number of devices connected to a riser and a drainage system.
The program generates longitudinal profiles of a system based on an established gradient, determined diameters, and data on the strip foot and other objects. Individual parameters, eg diameter, can be further defined in a generated profile, which will be considered in the general model of a drainage system.
CHARACTERISTICS OF THE PROGRAM:
• The insertion of the pipeline routes into a drainage system, including an established gradient, starting from the discharge point with an inspection camera to the sanitary accessories, accounting for the types of wastewater discharged.
• Insertion of discharge points, rigging, Cleanouts and automatic insertion of Cleanouts at the drain level. Assigning characteristic data to them.
• The insertion of pipes, including automatic differentiation in drains, pipes and luminaire connections, an extensive library of materials.

What is ArCADia-REINFORCED CONCRETE SLAB?
ArCADia-REINFORCED CONCRETE SLAB is an industry-specific module of the ArCADia BIM system, based on the building information modeling (BIM) ideology.
The program is intended for construction engineers. The purpose of the application is to provide maximum user support in developing detailed structural drawings of reinforced concrete slabs in a CAD program.
ArCADia-REINFORCED CONCRETE SLAB is a structural program, which creates a spatial model of the slab reinforcement, allows subsequent editing and, for example, the automatic creation of new cross sections of the slab, based on data entered by the user, in form of views of the upper and lower reinforcement plates of the slab and of the cross sections of the element. The formation of the slab reinforcement plate in the program is possible based on the guidelines specified in the PN-EN 1992-1-1 Eurocode 2: September 2008 standard. This program allows data on the shape and support of the slab by the design engineer and captures data on the shape and support of the slab directly from the ArCADia-ARCHITECTURE program based on the established ceiling. If the given level deck in ArCADia-ARCHITECTURE consists of multiple roofs, all roofs after your selection is transferred to the ArCADia-REINFORCED CONCRETE SLAB program as separate models of reinforced concrete slabs.
The ArCADia-REINFORCED CONCRETE SLAB program includes the following features and capabilities:
• Ability to design multiple slabs within a document.
• Possibility of transferring the ceilings including their support conditions from the building model in the ArCADia-ARCHITECTURE program.

ArCADia BIM - Tool Modules

ArCADia-IFC 2

Price:
Net: € 144,00

Demo download:

What is ArCADia-IFC?
In BIM (building information modeling), that is, in object-oriented building design, IFC is one of the most commonly used formats. Files of this format are exported and imported to programs such as Revit, ArchiCAD, Tekla Structures and Allplan, among others. Projects created in a BIM system are not only three-dimensional buildings with fixed textures, but objects that transmit information about their properties, for example materials, with all the coefficients, values and additional data that can be assigned to an element. ArCADia-IFC, in the new version of the ArCADia system, changes the focus of reading IFC files by importing them without any conversion. This allows the model to be loaded with greater precision along with all the data of any object for the creation of each building. The elements do not become objects of the system and, thanks to this, all the files are loaded regardless of the structure of the model that no longer needs to be analogous to the structure of the existing building in the ArCADia system. Any number of IFC files can be loaded into ArCADia and can coexist with the system models in the project. Models are independent, and yet when all object data is transferred, they are subject to design verification with collision and find options, for example, crossings between structure elements and different facilities, regardless of whether they are imported as a model IFC or are created with ArCADia system options.
Program capabilities:
• IFC file import was introduced as a stand-alone model for any project. The new version allows you to import a file into any project (a new one or with the existing structure of the ArCADia system model) and load several IFC models in a project. The imported model can be loaded using a simplified view of the projection (with only the envelope of the object shown) or with all the edges visible.
• Management of IFC models: adding and removing imported files.
• Possibility of modifying the position of the model in the project space, possibility of movement within the X, and Y system at altitude m above sea level.
• Quick access, in the Properties window, to all the parameters of the IFC objects saved in the Source program.
• Coexistence of IFC models and ArCADia systems models in a single project; Thanks to which, the collisions between all or the indicated objects of all the existing models in the project can be checked already from the design stage.
• The function save project through a project package together with all the IFC models inserted in it.

"Ladies and gentlemen,
We have been a member of the IntelliCAD Technology Consortium (ITC) since 2002. Participants in this non-profit investment fund oversee the development of CAD software, which was the first real alternative to AutoCAD software. We alone develop and share IT solutions, which are implemented in the common source code.
Most companies, including ours, use this tool as a graphics engine in their own specialized applications. Our flagship product, the ArCADia BIM multidisciplinary system also uses IntelliCAD solutions.
Development based on BIM technology is, without a doubt, the inevitable future of the construction industry, however, as we have seen, the need to use the simple and universal CAD tool is always present. Trying to satisfy this need, we have developed the INTELLICAD software. As a software developer, we can not only shape that application but also set its price, so, especially for Polish engineers, we were able to set favorable purchasing conditions.
By purchasing this solution, you are opening the path for yourself to an easy transition in the world of BIM technology, when you consider it appropriate. ”
