MundoGEO # Connect announces the finalists of the 2013 awards

MundoGEO # Connect has announced the opening of the second phase of the award that recognizes the best of the geospatial industry so that it can be voted by one of the five finalists in each category.

During the month of April, the community openly indicated who should be the finalists in each category. Now, the five most voted can be chosen in each of the 25 categories of the Prize, which are divided into:

“In 2011 and 2012 the community mobilized and voted en masse to choose the institutions, companies and groups of professionals that stood out” – said Eduardo Freitas, technical coordinator of the event. “The award is one of the highlights of MundoGEO # Connect LatinAmerica, the largest gathering of the southern hemisphere geo industry,” he added.

It is interesting, for example in the most remembered GIS brand as gvSIG and Quantum GIS stand out in the mind of the consumer, at the level of ArcGIS, Geomedia and Erdas; It would be a surprise that in the end one of the OpenSource won the category.

Also striking is the SDI initiative in Latin America, where I bet on the work that Colombia has been doing in recent years; that it will not be bigger than what Mexico has done but it will be more aggressive and “less bureaucratic”.

And then on the Facebook page, where our friend Anderson Madeiros positions ClickGeo competing with pages of companies of a more formal character than a crazy blog about geotechnologies, with a rhythm of updating and charisma that I myself could never overcome.
