Questions about IIS, IMS and Manifold GIS

Publish maps with manifold gis

Answering questions from my last meeting with the technician that is breaking the coconut with the municipalities in the creation of publishing services with Manifold GIS, in order to finalize the Manifold manual that I mentioned earlier.

The intention of creating these services is that the cadastre department can serve data, without having to share files or worry about updating. For example with the Municipal Environmental Unit, Urban Control or with the same municipal corporation who can access through a browser as is done in Google Maps or through a GIS program such as ArcGIS.

1. Why IIS?

IIS is the publication service that Windows already brings, through ASP, publishing in Manifold through this way only requires doing "file, export to html". It's not possible with Manifold to create a publishing service via an Apache server that I know of...or not by mere mortals.

2. What version of windows?

From Windows XP professional IIS is integrated ... that j * dida those who have Home Edition because although there on the web say it can be patched, I have not tried

3. How to enable IIS?

Start, control panel, add or remove programs, add windows components. IIS is chosen and the “next” button is applied, it is likely that it will ask for the windows CD, in case it is pre-installed… another f*ck.

You are manifold

4. How to start the services?

But man, that comes in the windows readme !!!

image Start, Control Panel, Administrative Tools, Internet Information Services. Choose the play icon for the service to start.

5. How to create access to localhost?

imageBeing in the same panel of the previous question, the machine that will work as host is chosen, the properties of the "websites" folder are selected and in the access properties the user is included in the form "IUSR_NAME OF THE MACHINE" to that the maps served can be shared via anonymous user.

Iis manifold iusr

Of course, there are other, more complicated ways to do it.

6. How to create a publication service?

J * der! Like that you do not read my blog, 5 less points, Read here, here, here y here And then comes to ask me.

7. How to share maps on the intranet?

Simple, if you are within the same network, just type the IP. To know the IP, it is done on the machine that is serving data “start, run, cmd, enter” and ipconfig is written there.

There should appear the IP of the machine that must be a number like 192.168.0.109 so that with a user on the network choose that ip in the browser, and the map folder, will be able to see the published service.

The access would be:

192.168.0.109 / maps /

If you want to share different maps, without developing much, it is published in separate folders, if you already want to create a menu, you can develop a basic page with links to the different maps ... if not, simple shortcuts. If you want to do it via the Internet ... it is the reason for another post because it would require a public ip or other juggling.

8 How to share maps with AutoCAD or ArcGIS?

If the wms and wfs options are activated when publishing, the user of ArcGIS, GvSIG, Microstation V8i, AutoCAD Map or any application that supports OGC services could access this data through this url:

In this case I would see them as images

In this case you can download the layers
