2 Problem: Acer Aspire One: Skype does not connect

Why do i use skype

I initially entered as a hobbyist but after I have to be traveling a lot and attend to my children's homework at night, the conversation with audio and video included is great. They only need to bring me the homework book, and I can explain how to do them, or check if they are okay.

As I travel abroad several times a year, I convinced myself to take a plan, for several reasons, including:

• It is cheaper for me to talk on skype to other countries, landlines or mobiles from 2 cents on the dollar. Using prepaid cards from a mobile phone provider goes up to 10 times this (local ones).
• I could have a fixed number while I was traveling in the United States.
• I can pay with Paypal, and in this way I redeem that money that comes to me for sponsorship, but I can not transfer it to a bank account because my country does not apply.

But suddenly: plop !, did not connect.

Possible solutions

Canned Skype helps say many possibilities, that a proxy, that the port is blocked, that the port 80 needs to be exorcised ... etc.

But hey, it is important to do the basic tests, for example: there may be a conflict in the port used by the integrated webcam in the Acer Aspire One, with Skype. To do this, you must remove the option that ports 80 and 443 are default.

This is done in the Skype interface, "tools, connection options", disable the option and place a port at will. This solution not only applies to the Aspire One, but to any computer using Windows.

The battle

But the exit was never that, I consider myself mocked for the two hours that I struggled seeing what it could be, with my son on the other side waiting for me to help him with the complementary angles task. I resorted to the common rule: that I installed since it last worked.

This small machine is not for installing many programs, so I said before. You have to keep it free of things that will load your memory, so it was easy to know what you had installed lately.

It was Panda Antivirus, which he had resorted to as an emergency. For some reason, this antivirus, which is very good, has serious problems configuring Proxy exceptions and if it finds an extra program that competes with it, it seems to block all possibilities. Supposedly, it solves like this:

"Start, control panel, windows firewall"

Entering here activates the "exceptions" tab, allowing Skype to be allowed. But even though I tried a thousand ways, it never worked.

Then, I uninstalled the Panda, meanwhile, I removed the Internet connection to prevent any disaster from happening to me without antivirus. Then i installed  Kaspersky, The one I normally use, and for which I paid $ 29 dollars, much less than my information worth.

Conclusion

It is not recommended to have two antivirus on one machine, as one can block the other's routines, usually automatic updating.

In short, if you find that Skype is not connected, it is appropriate to check if the antivirus is to blame.
