Importing coordinates into Google Earth

This time we will see how to import coordinates to Google Earth, this is a plantation of African Palm, raised in the rustic (rural) cadastre.

The file format

If what I have is a file raised with GPS, the important thing is to understand that Google Earth requires that the data be converted to .txt or .cvs format. For this, if I have the coordinates in Excel, I can save them in this format.

The coordinate format

Google Earth only supports Geographical coordinates (latitude longitude) and of course those must be in WGS84 which is the datum that Google Earth supports, it can also carry a description. If I open the text file with the notebook, I have the following information:

77,-87.1941,15.6440
78,-87.1941,15.6444
79,-87.1938,15.6457
80,-87.1929,15.6459
81,-87.1926,15.6409
82,-87.1923,15.6460
83,-87.1917,15.6460
84,-87.1912,15.6438
85,-87.1909,15.6458
86,-87.1908,15.6446
87,-87.1907,15.6447
88,-87.1905,15.6406
89,-87.1905,15.6423
90,-87.1904,15.6437
91,-87.1947,15.6455
92,-87.1946,15.6456

The first column is the point number (I have assumed it but it is not real or consecutive), the second is the length (coordinate x) and the third is the latitude (coordinate Y), all are separated by commas. Be careful, you have to be clear that the more decimals you assign, the more accurate it will be because in geographical coordinates the truncation is quite significant.

How to import it into Google Earth

To do this is required Google Earth Plus, (costs $ 20 per year) or a parrot in the back.

to import them select "file / open" and then use the option "txt / cvs" and find the file where it is stored

image

From the screen you have to indicate that the text is delimited, that this delimitation is commas, then you click on the "next" button

imageNow you have to indicate which is the latitude and which is the longitude. There is an option to assign postal addresses, but we will see that later.

Then you have to press the "next" button, then "back", then "back" and "end"

And Ready, to change the color and size of the icon, right-click on the folder and then choose properties.

For other options, we previously saw a macro they do this same thing with UTM coordinates and also like Convert coordinates UTM to Geographic with Excel

  9. But they do not sell the google earth plus version I do?

  10. To update it, within Google Earth you select:

“help / update to Google Earth plus” then enter the username and password… if you don't have one, choose “buy google earth plus account”, it costs 20 dollars a year

  11. Excellent information but I currently have google earth basics, I do not know how to get the license for google earth plus, I would be grateful to be guided as this process is done

    very thankful
