Google Earth updates orthography, April 2008

Google announced its update at the beginning of April of 2008, however I recommend that you review your countries because not everything that is updated is announced; the last it was late from January. Google only notifies the countries updated with a recent image, so it seems, among them it mentions Panama, Cuba, Argentina, Bolivia and Spain from among our Hispanic countries.

In the case Honduras is not mentioned, and I see that it has updated high resolution image (if it can be called orthophoto) in the following places:

West Road

The entire stretch from San Pedro Sula, to Brotherhood, Chinda, Trinidad, Petoa. From then on there was a quadrant that covered San Marcos and Quimistán. Then following that road is Sole, Macuelizo y Azacualpa although the material of that area is somewhat cloudy and the joints with the previous image are like we already know (slightly offset 30 meters)

santa barbara honduras

That coverage ends at the end of the department of Santa Barbara, then there is more coming to Copan Ruins, a city that now has all the coverage. There is also a good stretch of road that leads to Santa Rosa de Copán, and the entire city is covered.

Other areas

You can also see a good strip from south to north in the department of eat waterbut is not Gold Mines 🙁, the road to Puerto Cortés, some areas of Olancho and begins to see more than The Paradise… very good news.

It is noticeable that the tendency of Google is to update the areas of influence of the road layer, and others that go randomly to bite us to buy the image.

So check your countries because this is good ... not to do high precision jobs but for municipalities with limited resources it is a useful material.

Upgrade.

A little late, Google Official the updates, here the countries around us ... so we weren't so bad.

  1. Hello Raul, it seems that Google Earth simply works with the big data providers, but this post shows that it is possibly doing some rapprochement with small data providers or countries

that can be seen in a simple inspection, where some autonomous countries of Spain or counties of the United States have all the coverage of high resolution available and until you notice a different tone

  2. A very important question:

What is the mechanism of updating images by google ?? !! Do they repurchase the images that have been bought by each country?

    Greetings and thanks,

    Raul
