Google Chrome 30 months later

Two and a half years ago Google launched Chrome, little by little I have been observing how visitors to this site leave other browsers and move to it, while downloading Internet Explorer users hand in hand with the invasion of mobile communication. With Chrome we have learned to do things differently, at least at the desktop level; we have also noticed substantial changes with safari, especially because 30 makes navigation months from smartphones was not a fashion like today, nor the obsessive dependence on social networks.

I've been using Chrome since was released, initially to prove that it worked but I never went back to download a beta of Firefox and its endless extensions, although I miss that the speed was always higher. I have Safari next door, just in case the intranet gets slow, its interface is similar but you can tell the difference when I attach files in Gmail and I guess Mac users feel the same because both browsers are adapted to their products.

For comparison purposes in the Spanish-speaking medium, let's take a quick look at statistics on an approximate sample of 30,000 visitors between January and March of the year 2008, three months before it was released Chrome; and a similar amount between February and March of 2011.

Before it came Chrome

Between Internet Explorer and Firefox the 97% of webb visitors were shared. Opera stagnated and Safari just for the small group of Mac users.

How it is now

Observe how the 23% that Chrome now has reached it by removing 8,392 users to Internet Explorer; It will look simple but represents a loss of 39% in just two and a half years. The achievement of Firefox is not in its substantial growth, but its sustainability for sure also lost users who left for Chrome; despite that, 945 managed users who also had to leave Internet Explorer and it represents 12% growth.

It is clear that the big loser is Internet Explorer, which falls almost in half, which is not exactly representative of the disuse of Windows operating systems. It is more a trend of browsing behavior, hence Safari recovers 2% of nothing, because of the demand that now exists for browsing from mobile phones where navigation dominates thanks to the success of Ipad, Iphone products.

See that Opera remains in almost the same, with the variant that now your mini browser has representation before the demand of mobile users, including those who urge Flash. The rest of the queue does not even reach an 1%.

As for operating systems, Windows has gone down from 97.55% to 95.03%, in this you can see a growth of Mac that now surpasses Linux and then the whole range of mobile browsers.

What to expect

image Definitely, Chrome has come to change the way browsers operated, since the end of Google goes beyond that. The intention of taking it to be an online operating system every day is materialized with the arrival of mobile devices that confirm the trend.

I leave you a graph of Woopra the pages viewed in Geofumadas the last three weeks to draw their own conclusions.

Google Chrome has no versions, it is updated only, every moment. From there, it is just 10 points of the version preferred by the Internet Explorer faithful from which we see users scattered using even 5 Explorer. It also surpasses the users of Explorer 3, which remains the most used, although there is a user of the caves around using Firefox 1.

That makes the image speak out loud: Chrome is one, in a long list of 19 different flavors, among which 5 are Firefox, 5 Explorer, 5 Safari.

Google has well used its automatic update strategy on a single version, so users are not thinking about whether to download the new version or switch to Firefox. Although the great thing of this platform still is not seen, it is visualized later that Google begins to promote applications, its administrator of tasks, transition of all Google Apps to a new platform, Chrome web store and its mobile version that rips through there.

It is curious that everything that has been implemented in Chrome arrived there and we almost never noticed. We notice it when we see a new option, and how it changed the way we navigate we recognize it when we must use the previous browser on an external machine.

Here it is can download Google Chrome.
