Geospatial - GIS

GIM International Español, continues with good success

I have arrived the edition of this first quarter of 2015, with definitively valuable content in Spanish language.

Gim international

The themes alone say the value of their collaborators:

  • Emerges a new era in land administration.  This is a great article in which Chrit Lemmen and three other colleagues talk about how processes, computer applications and global approaches are leading to rights management beyond the simple UML smoothing of ISO19152.

  • Contributing color to the clouds of points.  Sam Fleming, Iain Woodhouse, and Antoine Cottin tell us how developments in multispectral Lidar are changing the way point clouds are viewed.

  • ¿Is the GIS dead? David Rhind talks about the one with which they have renamed an iconic book, proposing the proposal Systems and Sciences of Geographic Information (GISS).

  • Ford and the art of maintenance on a map.  This is an excellent analysis in which the analogy of Ford's approach to the endless operation of debt is made. Nothing far away if we consider the amount of money that is invested in our information gathering and digitization processes ... and so little in updating and recovering costs.

  • Surveying is a profession that needs to think ahead.  For the first time a woman chairs the FIG, and GIM International takes the time to make 16 incisive questions.

  • Redefining the level of detail for 3D models.  This is a mid-astral smoker, regarding the complexity of the level of detail (LOD) in the application of standards for 3D city models.

  • Analysis of the deformation of a test dam.  This is a case of using Autonomous Flight Units, to monitor for two years not only the deformations of a dike, but the proof that these teams are more than ready for the processes of Geo-engineering.

  • Integration of geospatial information.  This article by Jose Santizo summarizes in a rather hasty way how the technological evolution at the service of geomatics, in the case of the drones, has come to create new solutions and in rebound also to demand more precisions.

Our congratulations to Geomares, for insisting on this publication dedicated to our Hispanic environment, with applications as current as those we see in this edition.

As a suggestion, although now the magazine has a Spanish-language collaborator, quality has improved "google translate", however the quality in technical writing could improve in the interpretation of the spirit of the original writing.
