I have already arrived the Select Series 1 version of PowerMap V8i (8.11.05.19) that brings some interesting news.
PowerMap, like PowerDraft and PowerCivil do not occupy a license of Microstation, but it is included as Runtime at a fairly low price compared to Bentley Map + Microstation. So it runs as if it were an application developed by oneself on the Microstation API, with all the functionalities except that it will not run on this other Bentley program like Geopak, Descartes, etc.
Among the most interesting developments are the changes made to the Browser, which is very similar to a conventional tabular display, but it is more than that, because you can edit attributes in block (grid editing), save searches and other miquis. It also looks interesting, although I do not prove it yet, an alternative to assign attributes to objects without needing to build them (Promote feature Method).
Among other novelties it is mentioned:
- Union of tables (join), including xml structures in the dgn
- Split / merge of polygons with option to inherit data
- Topological analysis report. Now, the results of a layer crossing or selection by attributes can be sent as a report and displayed in the Data Browser.
- Labeling, based on annotation properties.
- Conversion of dynamic labels to permanent annotations.
All these things are old in other GIS programs, but, well, we welcome them.
At first I got the error:
Exception: The file 'C: \ WINDOWS \ Cursors \ hcross.cur' could not be found.
For a moment I thought it was because I did not install the pre-requisites, since I had already installed Microstation V8i, but in doing so I see that only the XML Parser 6 of Service Pack 1 and DirectX 9c was updated. So I end up believing it is a type of cursor that does not have my Windows installed.
To solve this, just go to the folder C: \ WINDOWS \ Cursors \ and make a copy of one of the cross cursors, renaming it as hcross.cur
Ready, for this miserable reason the program did not let me activate the view. I will be playing, to see if we lower the level of astrality with a good tutorial step by step, in a project of integration of Cadastre with Urban Planning that already days brings me chopped.
There I tell you, as it is likely that I will take back the tools that had been Developed for XFM in 2005, But of generic use.
