Bentley Site is one of the tools within the package known as Bentley Civil (Geopak). Let's see in this case how to create a terrain model based on a map in existing 3D.
1 The data
I am using a three-dimensional file, which contains a triangulated model in which each object is a 3Dface, which Microstation calls shapes.
2. Project management .gsf
The .gsf files (Geopak site file) stores the information of the different Geopak applications and is a kind of binary database. To create one, the following is done:
Site moedeler> Project Wizzard> Create new project> Next> give name "terra san ignacio.gsf"> Next.
Then the project bar appears, we choose:
Site modeler> Project Wizzard> Open existing project> Browse.
And we look for the newly created project and select Open.
3. Storing objects in .gsf
Now we require the .gsf to contain the map information, so we have to tell you what kind of objects it is.
Create new model
New Site model > We named the model "dtm san ignacio"> ok.
Site modeller> project wizzard> Import 3D graphics
In the panel that appears, we assign the name of the object, in this case "Dtm", We specify the characteristics of tolerance and type of objects, in this case as void. Could have been selected contours In case of having the contour lines, Break lines, boundaries, etc.
Then with the button Select elements, we select all the objects in the view. To not complicate the selection, we use the block option and we make a box around all the objects.
Press the button Apply, And in the lower panel the object counter is displayed in descending order, while entering them into the project.
Until now, Geopak understands that all such objects are a mesh of interconnected objects.
4. Export to TIN
Now what we need is that the created objects can be exported as digital model (TIN), for this we do:
Export Model / Object
And in the panel we choose that what we will export will be only the object, and the type; it can be a binary file or Land XML. We choose type TIN File.
We also define the file name and it is possible to set a vertical offset. As we will send all the objects we do not choose a Boundary.
And there you have it, it is a matter of choosing how you want to see the TIN; With curves of level, each quantum, view or in vector, that we will see in another post.
