The 3D mobile laser scanning application wins the IF DESIGN award

The Leica Cyclone FIELD 360 application has been awarded the second design award at the iF DESIGN AWARD 2019.

Together with the Ergosign user experience (UX) company, Leica Geosystems presented the application in the connectivity category. For 66 years, iF DESIGN AWARD He has been recognized as a quality arbiter for exceptional design. The Cyclone FIELD 360 application was selected by a jury of 67 members, composed of independent experts from around the world, from among 6,375 participants from 52 countries.

“This recognition is an honor and a testament to our team's hard work and commitment to delivering the best user experience possible,” said Gerhard Walter, product manager for Cyclone FIELD 360.

“We developed the Cyclone FIELD 360 app for a diverse skill set of users to ensure they can easily and efficiently capture and work with their laser scan data.”

The application for mobile devices Cyclone FIELD 360 is a fundamental element in the capture solution of three-dimensional reality Leica RTC360 3D. The application forms a link between the 3D data collection in the field using the Leica RTC360 laser scanner and the data record in the office using the postprocessing software Leica Cyclone REGISTER 360. It enables the user to automatically collect, record and review image and scan data on site using a tablet. As a result, the system provides a positive user experience in the field of 3D reality capture even for inexperienced users.

“Good design can only be achieved through good cooperation with technical experts and future users. We were able to experience this on this project,” said Toni Steimle, UX Director and Site Director at Ergosign Zürich.
